How to put symbols in a bio on Instagram, TikTok and X
Every one of these apps takes pasted Unicode in a bio, a caption or a display name. None of them gives you a way to type it, so copying is the method.
Copy, then paste into the field
Tap a character here to copy it. Paste it where you want it. Line breaks are the thing that gets stripped, not the characters.
Fancy fonts are not fonts
The bold and script letters in bio generators are separate Unicode characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, not styling. They paste anywhere, and the cost is real: a screen reader reads them character by character or skips them, and search does not match them against the ordinary letters they imitate. Use them in a display name if you like, and not in text anyone needs to read or find.
Check it on a phone before you keep it
A character your desktop draws may be missing from the font on someone else's phone, where it appears as an empty rectangle. The safest characters are the old ones: arrows, stars, hearts, currency and punctuation.
