How to type symbols in Discord and in games
Discord's :name: shortcodes are emoji only. A Unicode symbol like ★ or ♥ is not an emoji and has no shortcode, so the method is to paste it, and it needs no Nitro.
Paste it
Copy the character and paste it into the message box, your nickname, or a channel name. It travels as text and everyone sees the same character, subject to their font having it.
Windows+. works inside the game
The Windows emoji panel is a system overlay, so it works in Discord and in most games running in windowed or borderless mode. Its symbol tabs are the quickest route mid-conversation.
What breaks
Many games strip anything outside a small allowed set from names, and some reject the message rather than the character. If a name is refused, that is the filter and not your keyboard.
